Hello lovers of Stardust!
So many of you have been following the progress of this project from the inspiration and first idea sketches to the first CAD drawing of the flying saucer bench. You’ve been cheering me on, extending offers of support and advice along the way. You rock!
And I am thrilled to announce that Stardust received a generous grant from the 2018 Black Rock City Honoraria Program. That’s huge! And that means we’re in the home stretch to fully fund the project. Whoo hoo!
Since this is my first large scale art installation ever, I’ve been learning so much. And one of the things I’ve learned is that I’ve undershot the budget. The grant will cover about 75% of the project’s expenses and will get Stardust off the ground. And to raise the remaining funds to send Stardust into orbit, I’m joining forces with Hatchfund.
The remaining 25% will support my Elements (Stardust crew members) with better tools, safety equipment, leave no trace provisions and food; cover fees, taxes, and shipping costs for construction supplies; build a stronger support cage; add more interactive lighting to the installation; secure a safe vehicle and enough fuel for transportation to and from the playa. And most importantly, I can feed my Elements!! You can’t build a spaceship without sustenance.
